Shell has been operating in Argentina since 1914. Its main activities are the exploration and production of oil and gas, the refining of crude oil, and the commercialisation of fuels and lubricants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Shell set out to optimise security at one of its branches with the aim of reducing theft rates, shrinkage and increasing internal control, it asked RST to strengthen the connectivity and security of its entire network infrastructure as well as its old video surveillance system which did not meet current business requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RST replaced the entire existing video surveillance system based on low resolution analogue dome cameras and PC’s with video capture boards with an IP system, NVR with RAID technology, indoor and outdoor varifocal cameras, PTZ domes in playgrounds and WDR and fisheye cameras for the shop sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the existing data rack was dismantled, the structured cabling was reorganised, a new generation physical firewall was installed, several cabled access points were installed, and traffic was segmented into VLANs. In addition, new security policies and load balancing for dual WANs were implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The implementation of the equipment allowed Shell to monitor the entire service station, triple the video quality of its monitoring systems, eliminate micro-cuts in the LAN network, double its bandwidth, have WLAN connectivity throughout the premises, both indoor and outdoor, reduce the amount of corrective maintenance in the video surveillance system, and reduce losses due to shrinkage and theft both internally and externally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
